Bittersweet: A Rainbow after the Rain?

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 26, 2008, 11:20 AM
It seems that things have started to turn around to the better for me. I changed my treated-like-a-slave-job to a better one since last week & starting yesterday I'm officially a permanent resident of the U.S.! It may not seem like a big deal to some people, but I've put a lot of effort into that for years that it's totally a good news for me.

On the other hand, the past week was not a good one for my loved ones. My sister had a bad work week, my husband's car was bumped by another car in the highway, & my brother got hit by another car resulting in his car totaled. Thank God he's alright.

Back to DA, hopefully I'll post something simple in the next few days. It's something I drew for one of the DA member here. Hopefully she'll like it :).

Yay for good changes!:star: I'm glad that you are now a fellow permanent resident=) But I'm sorry about your family members, especially your brother:cries: Hopefully the other driver was okay too and that your insurance will help pay for the damages.

And i wish u the best as well as with your drawing for your friend:hug:

Don't worry, the other driver was okay, too. He has insurance, but he was really stressed out.

About the drawing, it's more of a simple sketch, actually, b/c I'm not that skilled yet, but I hope she'll like it :P.

Not yet :). I just got a greencard, so it'll take a few more years to be eligible for citizenship. But now I don't need to worry about living here anymore & don't have to be so restricted with the strict regulations & stuffs they have for non-immigrant visa holder :).

oh my apologies. At least you're one step closer. ^.~ Still something wonderful to celebrate!
What were some restrictions if you don't mind me asking?

Well, it starts from choosing what major you take in college of course, b/c some majors are more likely to help you find a job that makes it easier to get a working visa than the others.

Then there is a difficulties in getting a company that hires international student. Even if the company is willing, there is a quota on how many non-immigrants may work legally in the US every year.

Working with a working visa means you can't change jobs whenever you want & in case you're lucky & love your job, there is a time limit on how long you can work ^^.

Most people will be grateful just to get the working visa - it's really hard nowadays to get one. I'm really lucky to get not only the work visa, but now the greencard (I got the greencard through my workplace) ^^.

oh wow... those are some important restrictions... O.O I didn't know they were things like that. I'm glad then that you have the greencard! ^o^ :airborne:
